Our very own Attorney Christian T. Williams of Domina Law Group recently represented Daniel and Charlie Hendrix, of the Hendrix Law Firm in a lawsuit against the City of Crofton for alleged breach of contract and violation of Nebraska’s Open Meetings law. Attorney Williams was able to avoid a jury trial and settle the case outside of court for $54,000, much to the client’s satisfaction.
The suit was filed in Knox County District Court this May after the city allegedly terminated their 3-year contract with Hendrix Law Firm illegally and without proper compensation. Additionally, the suit alleges The City of Crofton held a private meeting to discuss the termination of our client, which violates the state’s Open Meetings Act. This act protects the public by forbidding the City Council from conducting business privately, rather than in the view of the public.
As a result, Daniel and Charlie Hendrix took legal action to obtain the fees they were entitled to under the terms of their contract. Attorney Christian T. Williams and our team at Domina Law Group aided the firm in their pursuit of compensation for legal and administrative services, as well as the cost of the civil lawsuit.
