Zofran Birth Defect Attorneys
Was your child born with cleft palate or another defect after you took Zofran for nausea?
Recent lawsuits allege that prenatal exposure to the anti-nausea drug Zofran (ondansetron) causes serious birth defects such as cleft palate. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration initially approved use of the prescription drug Zofran to treat cancer patients suffering from nausea after chemotherapy, surgery, and other treatments.
GlaxoSmithKline, the drug's manufacturer, then began marketing the drug to pregnant women to combat morning sickness even though the FDA never approved Zofran for this use. GlaxoSmithKline agreed to a $3 billion payout back in 2012 to settle federal charges claiming the company had illegally promoted Zofran and other drugs.
GlaxoSmithKline is now facing a new wave of allegations concerning Zofran, including the claim that accuses the drug manufacturer of knowing the risk of harm Zofran could cause to developing babies yet marketing the drug to pregnant women anyway.
