Domina Submits Closing Arguments in Whiteclay Liquor Licenses Case

|

Following a high-stakes administrative law trial earlier this month, the Domina Law Group has submitted their closing arguments for their clients who are seeking to close four liquor stores in the unincorporated village of Whiteclay, NE.

While the village only has eight residents, they reportedly sell more than $3.5 million worth of beer every year, and evidence provided at the hearing shows that all sales were to Native Americans living on the Oglala Sioux Reservation at Pine Ridge, located just a few hundred feet from the liquor stores across state lines in South Dakota.

Attorney David Domina was hired by citizens living in the area who were looking to prevent the liquor stores from renewing their liquor licenses back in February of this year.

“Whiteclay is the most deeply infected boil on the face of Nebraska,” said Domina. “It needs to be lanced and drained… The time has come for the liquor commission to rid Nebraska of the pernicious Whiteclay liquor licenses.”

The citizen’s concerns are focused on the lack of adequate law enforcement that they say has led to rampant liquor-related crime. Some of the issues cited by the citizens included people openly drinking and others passing out on the highway that passes through Whiteclay.
